Project LORKES / Nov 13rd to 21st 2024 / Reunion island

Music knows no boundaries. Music harmonizes and unites.

​

Organizing and experiencing this Erasmus+ exchange project around music, with 25 young people aged 18 to 25 from Spain, Italy, Portugal, Poland, and of course Reunion Island, was quite a challenge!!!

My name is Sundri (@Sundri Feeling), I am a singer and coordinator of Erasmus+ projects for the association Artiste de ma Vie.

From November 13th to 21st, 2024, here in Saint-Paul, we lived through a musical creation residency and intercultural meeting with 25 musicians. The underlying theme was the fight against discrimination.

An exceptional collective and human adventure.
Kindness, Diversity, and Creativity were the pillars of this group throughout the activities we offered.
And what activities they were!

I would like to thank all the Reunionese partners who accepted my invitation to join this project:

• Idriss @Kafmaron for his introduction to traditional Reunionese instruments

• Kazkabar for providing the iconic space of Reunionese cultural transmission

• @CEAS Salazie, represented by Laurent Chane Kam, who introduced us to the Indonesian gamelan

• @LaCeriseCaféCulturel which hosted our public restitution concert

• Lo Ron Maloya from the St. Paul waterfront and @Flambola.mizik

• Domaine du Bon Air for welcoming us into its incredible biodiversity and natural beauty.

 

I am delighted to have accompanied all these musicians, helping them give and receive the best.
I watched as connections were made, some people coming out of their shells, and others pushing their limits, each at their own pace.
What cultural, musical, and gastronomic richness ;-)
Reunion Island, a melting pot of diversity.
A big thank you to each participant because you are a beautiful sample of our humanity.
